Resort: Estoi in Algarve
Estoi is an unspoilt, quaint little hilltop town, nestled in the foothills of the Serra do Caldeirão. Narrow, cobbled streets wind through this charming resort to the central town square, where you will find the impressive town church and a handful of cafes where you can enjoy a coffee and a cake.
On the second Sunday of each month a market is held on the outskirts of Estoi, where a variety of clothing and handmade crafts as well as fruit and vegetables can be picked up. Estoi also boasts two architectural gems, one is the gently crumbling Palacio de Estoi, known as the Pink Palace, and the other is the Milreu Roman ruins, one of the first villas built in the Algarve by the Romans.
"The Villa was gorgeous, amazing views and the location was very private, but next time we will choose somewhere near more facilities. We had not appreciated just how remote it would be. "
Mr McConkey, Salisbury, July 2011
"If anything the spectacular view from the villa was understated. Also, in contrast to many other villas we have stayed in, the environment was extremely peaceful both day and night (some very distant dog barking but you had to strain to hear it). "
Mr Rahman, Havant, June 2011
"A lovely villa and great location in the mountains overlooking faro and Olhao. excellent comfortable furniture, games, "
Mr Chapman, Warwick, October 2010
"Absolutey lovely "
Mr Searston, Lincoln, September 2008
"The nicest villa I have ever stayed in "
Mr Latham, Gainsborough, August 2008
"Overall the villa and holiday were excellent - although expensive we felt we got what we paid for so in that sense it represented value for money. My only real concern is with the flight arrangements - we found Easyjet less than satisfactory (in part as a result of them losing onw of our bags). We actually spent quite a lot of the holiday deciding whether to go back to Villa Mar or try somewhere else - whatever our decision we are sure to try another villa holiday. "
Mr Pearman, Huddersfield, July 2008
"It would have been very helpful this year to have had a map available on the day we arrived showing local restaurants and larger super markets. We wasted a lot of time on day one and, being tired after a very early flight, sorting out our meals was disappointingly frustrating. As it was your rep provided a map the following day and we were fine for the rest of the holiday. Overall though another great holiday with you, our third in a row. "
Mr Simpson, Sunderland, March 2008
"A fantastic experience all round, definitely recommended "
